First Day of School...Finally!

The BC Teacher's strike has ended, and so off to school we go. Maya was very happy to start Grade Two. Caleb was feeling a bit nervous about kindergarten - but once he was there and saw all his friends he was very happy. When he came home he said "mom, no one got sent to the principal's office!". No wonder he was nervous!

Floating the Columbia

Our fantastic fall weather combined with the teacher's strike has been like an extended summer vacation. We have hiked, beached and did a beautiful fall paddle through Fairmont on the Columbia. The salmon were bright red, spawning in the clear river as we floated by. It was a perfect day!

Weekend in Fernie

The boys got to go for a weekend of heli-fly-fishing, so we got to hang out in Fernie for the weekend with the Brightwell cousins, Grandma and Auntie Crystal. We had such a great time - did a wonderful bike ride; hung out in the hot tub; went to a kids fest and the spray park.

Starbelly Jam 2014

Another great year at our favorite music fest, Starbelly Jam. Good friends, music and great times.

Lake O'Hara Hiking

We were lucky to spend 3 nights at Lake O'Hara in Yoho National Park with some good friends. We stayed in the backcountry campground in our little tent. The kids exceeded our expectations by hiking great distances and up stiff climbs every day. They absolutely loved it and we all could have spent more time. The hiking there is beyond beautiful with such perfect trails and views. We had some cool wildlife encounters with marmot, pika and mountain goats.

Badgers Graduation

Caleb had his Little Badgers pre-school graduation ceremony. We all attended - even Maya was able to go due to teacher's strike - and Grandma made the trip up just for the special event. He was very proud to receive his hat and diploma. We can't believe he will be in kindergarten this fall! Time does fly.

Father's Day at Kikkoman Creek

We had a great camping weekend at Kikkoman Creek provincial park. Highlights were mountain biking and fishing - two of Daddy's favorite things! It was father's day after all...
